a little transformation
étouf draws inspiration from the French word étouffé: suppressed, compressed, suffocated. For me, it’s a starting point for thinking about transformation—especially the way clay becomes something new when it meets fire.

étouf is my little world.
I work in digital media, design, and communication. Here in my hometown of Ayvalık, I also make ceramics, draw, and follow ideas into whatever form they seem to need.
My Aegean surroundings and Cretan roots find their way into what I make. So does my curiosity. If something interests me, I usually end up trying to make it.
Sometimes that means a cup. Sometimes a backgammon set. Sometimes a solitaire game.
